What to Wear in Denver in October

Pack for both ends of the same day. NOAA's figures for Denver International Airport put October at 18.5°C by day and 2.8°C / 37°F at dawn, a swing of about 16°C / 29°F, with 25mm of precipitation across about 5 days. The National Weather Service office in Boulder puts the average first freeze on 7 October and the first measurable snow on the 19th, though first snow has fallen as early as 3 September and as late as 10 December. Mid-month afternoons still reach 19°C / 66°F. Over all of it sits a mile of altitude. The EPA says "UV intensity increases about 6% per kilometer elevation", and cold air does nothing to cut it.
