What to Wear in Vienna in October

That is Sturm weather. The city keeps about 600 hectares of vineyards inside its limits, and in October the Heurigen of Grinzing, Nussdorf and Stammersdorf pour grape juice that has just begun to ferment. By evening you are in the Staatsoper, which asks its audience to dress up and takes every coat at the cloakroom. So: one loden coat for both places, knits that hold a room alone, pressed trousers. On 25 October the clocks go back, and sunset falls to about ten to five.
