The 28th Festival do Rio runs from 1 to 11 October 2026, the organisers announced, with screenings in cinemas across the city. Dress for the air-conditioning, not the street: a cotton cardigan over a dress or a linen top, and trousers that let you sit through a double bill. The festival's last weekend runs into a holiday. Monday 12 October is the national holiday of Nossa Senhora Aparecida, and the same day the Cristo Redentor turns 95; the Archdiocese of Rio dates its inauguration to 12 October 1931.
